This spring, B&A Energy Partners attended both the 2026 Southeastern Propane Expo in Nashville and the 76th Annual Western Propane Trade Show & Convention. Here's what we heard from independent propane business owners across the industry.

This spring, B&A Energy Partners had the opportunity to attend both the 2026 Southeastern Propane Expo in Nashville and the 76th Annual Western Propane Trade Show & Convention.
While the atmosphere between the two events was noticeably different, both provided valuable insight into the current state of the propane industry and the conversations happening among independent propane business owners today.
The Nashville expo brought strong attendance, active vendor participation, and energetic discussions across the industry. There was a clear sense that propane operators continue to focus on long-term growth, operational efficiency, and preparing for the future.
The Western convention in Oregon was quieter by comparison. Attendance appeared lighter than expected, and the pace was slower overall. But sometimes smaller events create opportunities for more meaningful conversations — and that was certainly the case for us.
Trade shows are not always about crowd size. Often, the most valuable part is reconnecting with industry relationships and hearing honest perspectives directly from propane business owners.
One of the most encouraging aspects of attending these events was reconnecting with propane owners who had previously reached out to B&A Energy Partners last year.
These follow-up conversations are important because they reflect how succession planning and exit strategy discussions often evolve over time. For many owners, selling a propane business is not an overnight decision. It is something that develops gradually as market conditions, family considerations, retirement planning, and business performance change.
We also heard recurring themes from owners across different regions, including:
These are conversations we expect to continue throughout 2026.
Despite broader economic uncertainty in some sectors, interest in propane acquisitions remains active.
Strategic buyers continue to look for well-operated propane companies with strong customer retention, quality assets, and stable operations. At the same time, many independent owners are beginning to think more seriously about what the next 3–5 years may look like for their businesses and families.
What stands out most is that owners are increasingly seeking information earlier in the process. Even when they are not actively pursuing a sale today, many want to better understand market conditions and available options.
That is exactly why industry events like these still matter.
For B&A Energy Partners, attending propane industry events is not simply about visibility. It is about staying connected with the people, conversations, and trends shaping the propane industry.
We believe maintaining an active presence helps us better understand:
Those insights ultimately help us better serve propane business owners considering future opportunities.
Whether an expo floor is packed or a little quieter than expected, there is still tremendous value in being present, listening, and building relationships across the industry.
We appreciate everyone who took the time to speak with us in Nashville and Oregon, and we look forward to continuing those conversations throughout the year.
As always, B&A Energy Partners remains committed to supporting propane business owners with thoughtful guidance, industry insight, and confidential advisory services tailored specifically to the propane sector.
